MY APPROACH
I use two primary approaches in my counseling work. Often when people come to therapy they are overwhelmed and stuck. Our first task is to help you reconnect with yourself through body-centered techniques such as mindfulness and awareness. With this re-connection, we will explore feelings, thoughts, and behaviors that keep you stuck. Cognitive-behavioral techniques will assist us in discovering new patterns of perceiving and being in the world that will move you forward in your life.
My counseling style is supportive and challenging. My goal with our work is that you gain the insight and skills to improve your life. Clients report understanding themselves better, an increased ability to make decisions and set boundaries, and feeling more satisfaction in their relationships and lives.
My training and therapy style are influenced by cognitive behavioral therapy, strength-based therapy, Hakomi/RCS therapies, and Buddhism (mindfulness, compassion).
*I offer telehealth services only (phone or video calls). I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform called Simple Practice which can be accessed via your phone or computer with audio and camera capabilities. *
